The Origin of Equa Capital goes back to the 1960’s when our founder and president, Joe Ciulla became a heavy equipment operator, welder and mechanic. Joe’s father was a Teamster for 38-years and as a boy, Joe would join his dad in his tractor-trailer on the road.

After attending college for civil engineering, Joe started his own construction business in 1972 and became a major earthmoving, utilities and demolition contractor in northern New Jersey and New York. In addition, he provided heavy-hauling service and bought and sold heavy equipment and trucks. Joe built his business on a reputation for delivering the largest and most challenging jobs on time by bringing to bear a fleet of the biggest and most productive machines for the tasks.

Business prospered and grew as Joe acquired substantial credit lines with banks and finance companies. He coveted these relationships that were essential to his success and he learned about the finance business.

Joe later became a real estate broker, selling industrial and commercial properties and he remains a proud member of The Real Estate Board of New York.

An entrepreneur always looking for new opportunities, Joe entered the business of selling and financing heavy equipment, trucks and trailers, where he applied his vast knowledge and experience. Today, he operates Equa Capital with the same high level of ethics and business acumen he has always demonstrated.
